Lecture by Drs. Karin Haanappel
Forgotten female artists…
Caravaggio, Rodin, Picasso: who doesn't know them? Gentileschi, Claudel, Goncharova: who still knows them... or does?
In the canon of art history, women are few and far between. Did they not make art? Were they less talented than men? No, their absence is the result of centuries of exclusion from art education and authoritative art circles. Female artists languished in the shadow of great masters or were forgotten.
For years, art historian drs. Karin B. Haanappel has been giving lectures on subjects from art and cultural history with great enthusiasm. She has a great deal of ready knowledge and knows how to place artists and art movements in the context of the time. In a passionate way, she conveys 'the story of female art history' to her audience. A fun, educational evening for ladies and gentlemen!
