Fort Sabina: Schilderen, Tekenen, Genieten 'En Plein Air'

PAINTING AND DRAWING 'EN PLEIN AIR' (12 and 13 August 2021)

FOR BEGINNERS AND ADVANCED SUPPORTERS.

Are you “in” for a really exciting Summer School this summer?
Do you like rolling vistas, water, flowers, beautiful nature, but also a very cool environment with a very rich history, hidden corners and exciting sometimes slightly creepy passages and light? Then you will really enjoy this edition of the Summer School, because just like in 2019 we will be guests at Fort Sabina in Heijningen for two days!

WHAT DOES THIS SUMMER SCHOOL LOOK LIKE?

We start both mornings with explanation, coffee/tea and something tasty, then you go in search of the most inspiring place for you. That could be a beautiful place in nature, but also the cold concrete bunkers or exciting dark passages of one of the many spaces on the large terrain. We gather at set times for a "break" and of course the well-cared for lunch in the bistro or outside at restaurant De Kletsmajoor. So we are at this location for two days and that could bring you to a whole series of works.

We try to capture this varied landscape, which ranges from very lovely to very tough and robust, in the material you desire.

This can be oil paint, acrylic, watercolor, but of course also with chalk, marker, ink or whatever material you prefer.
We will pay attention to making a composition and perspective. We will talk about the use of warm and cold colours in the construction of the work. We will also pay ample attention to abstracting an image. In short, two educational and wonderful days in which there is plenty of room to experiment or to follow your own course. I would like to go with you in search of more depth.

We conclude Friday afternoon with a work meeting and a drink on the terrace of De Kletsmajoor.

ABOUT FORT SABINA:
Fort Sabina is a coastal defense work, built in 1811 by order of Napoleon. Around 1881 the fort was further expanded and modernized. When the inhabitants of Willemstad, Fijnaart, Heijningen and surroundings came into the firing line between the advancing Allies and retreating Germans at the end of 1944, hundreds of people fled to Fort Sabina.
